Welcome to the Tubac Historical Society
Virtual Exhibits
How fortunate it is that a small historical society with limited office space in a remote rural town in Southern Arizona can now provide internet access to the wealth of history and culture here in Tubac. With our new Virtual Exhibits page we have expanded our audience to anyone with a computer.
Our first exhibit is inspired by a local ranching family. In 2010 the Wingfield family donated to THS a private collection belonging to the late Geoffrey Wingfield (1948 - 2009) which includes Native American pottery, stone tools, and ironwork from the Spanish Colonial period. This donation provides a focal point for further investigation into the Spanish Colonial and Mission life of our area.
In addition to the Virtual Exhibit, many of the artifacts from the Wingfield Collection are currently on display at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park Museum now operated by volunteers under the direction of the Tubac Historical Society. Please visit the Park, a great resource for Tubac. We are open everyday from 9 to 5.
In the future, we at THS hope to continue to provide an expanding representation of the Tubac area's rich history through our Virtual Exhibits page. The opportunity to do this exhibit is made possible by a grant from the Arizona Historical Society. We also received abundant help from the many volunteers in the Tubac community. We thank you!
